Although, we are not where we would like to be in terms of equity and social justice for all, it is evident that diversity in today's classrooms is rapidly increasing. Rueda (2004) indicates that urban schools will increasingly become minority schools as the enrollment of Latino and other English learners in urban schools steadily increase while white enrollment in these schools decreases.
